Attending the 2009 through 2014 global A(S)TD conferences, has been a treasure-trove of discoveries for me. So many keynotes and concurrent sessions still come to mind and I’ve followed up quite a few by reading articles and books. It’s been an enriching experience and this brings me to my third of four meta-themes I’ve uncovered in the past years: “learning is becoming a - more - of a science: learning scientifies”. Let’s meet up in Orlando, Florida, from May 17 to 20!
Several thought leaders come to mind who are building the growing scientific body behind learning. I’m thinking of David Rock and Ria van Dinteren: both active in the field of brain learning. If we, as education experts, would only follow and apply all developments and insights in this area, our learning interventions would be transformed. But this is not the only science that is under development.
It doesn’t really matter much which scientific field you follow and embrace: please don’t hesitate to choose with your heart, but choose, read, study and innovate. This will also boost our employability and will help increase the impact of our work in companies and institutions.
That’s an offer you can’t refuse, isn’t it?
